Sucks that they removed the rule that you must produce at least 2500(was 5k before 1993) 4WD Turbos you race with to attend in WRC in 1997(when moving from Group A cars to WRC cars)
Thats when Toyota discontinued producing 4WD sports by ending GT-Four Celicas and Ford did the same with Cossy Escort. They were both replaced with models you couldn't get as a 4WD (Focus and Corolla) which kind of sucks.
So many awesome cars only exist because of this rule. Evo Mitsus(and Galant VR-4), Imprezas, Delta Integrale, Nissan Pulsar GTI-R, Mazda 323 GTX/GTR. Quattro Audis all breed from the rally cars. And that's not all, I bet I forgot something.
The past 15 years without this rule could have generated a bunch of awesome cars. Like this one on the picture, but with 4wd.
